Olomouc - The leadership of the town hall in Hranice na Přerovsku has decided to find the most beautiful building of last year in the streets of the town. This prestigious competition, which has a long-standing tradition, can also be influenced by residents who can submit their proposals. The Building of the Year 2006 will then be announced by the town council.

"It is a prestigious award, which we do not announce every year. We strive to support interesting projects that contribute to beautifying the town," said Petr Bakovský, spokesperson for the Hranice town hall, to ČTK.
He noted that people can propose buildings of all kinds except for interiors. The condition is that they were approved during the last year. The investor should not be the town.
"Proposals for the building that contributed the most to improving the appearance of the town of Hranice in 2006 can be submitted by the end of January," the spokesperson added.
Any construction project can be declared the Building of the Year. Among the constructions are considered ground constructions, water management projects, transport, engineering structures, technological equipment, and landscaping and park modifications.
In previous years, for example, this title was won by the renovation of a panel house on Resková Street, a wastewater treatment plant, but the construction of a company and a family house was also recognized.
A similar competition is also announced annually by the Přerov town hall. In a competition aimed at improving the appearance of the city, experts look for the most beautiful facade within their city. The event is intended for the owners of new buildings, renovated properties, and panel houses. The winner takes home not only the title but also 50,000 crowns.
