Hradec Králové - The Lodge U Dvou šraňků in the forests near Hradec Králové, which was to be replaced by the construction of a modern forest education center, will remain standing. The city hall wants to transfer the building to the municipal forests, which will create an apartment for employees there, said Deputy Mayor Romana Lišková (HDK) to reporters today.

"We expect to carry out the transfer in the first half of the year. The forests intend to preserve the building in its current state,"
said the deputy. According to her, it will be necessary to obtain a demolition order for the barn, which is in poor condition.

Deputy Mayor Jindřich Vedlich (TOP 09) said to reporters today that several locations were investigated where the center could be established for nearly 20 million crowns. So far, the location near the shooting range on the edge of Hradec forests seems to be the best. "The city's investment committee dealt with it, which explicitly stated that the preparation should be suspended until the new zoning plan comes into effect, which could be issued in about two years," said Vedlich.

According to him, it still holds that the construction of the environmental center is conditional on obtaining a subsidy. The city hall announced the project for the demolition of the lodge and the construction of the center last January, a plan that drew criticism from part of the public. More than 6,000 people expressed their opposition to the demolition of the lodge in an online petition. The educational center considered by the city hall was conceived as a modern circular building, which would provide schoolchildren with information about wildlife breeding, nature protection, and forestry. The construction is to include aviaries with various species of animals.
