Černá (Žďársko) - The unique chapel of Saint Antonín was consecrated over the weekend in Černá near Žďár by the Brno bishop Vojtěch Cikrle. The new sacred building cost 4.5 million crowns. The municipality and the faithful contributed to it. It has an unusual shape resembling a ship with a wooden shell. "The construction of the chapel has been talked about in the municipality for about 80 years, its preparation began in 2001, and the work finished just before today's pilgrimage. About a thousand people attended," said mayor Petr Plocek to ČTK. The chapel dedicated to Saint Antonín was previously located in the castle. After the restitution of the area and subsequent sale, it was desacralized and abolished. The building is the work of architect Ladislav Kuba, whose project won the tender. The building permit was issued in the first half of 2004, but the actual construction was postponed for a year due to gasification. It began last April. The chapel, located on the banks of the Křivský stream and the Mlýnský pond, is 27 meters long and nearly seven meters wide at its widest point. It has two rows of benches and can accommodate about 70 people. The altar features an offering table made of stone. The raised foundation slab protects the building from flooding, and air conditioning for ventilation and heating is installed inside. The municipality, with 324 inhabitants near the D1 highway, has gained notoriety in the foreign press. It reported on sadomasochistic sessions in the local castle, which attract people from various corners of Europe. It is operated by a private company.
