Čáslav - Čáslav in the Kutnohorsko region wants to complete several years of renovations of the Dusík Theatre next year. The goal is to bring the building to such a state that the city can commemorate the 150th anniversary of the theatre's opening dignifiedly in 2019, said Mayor Jaromír Strnad (ČSSD) to ČTK.

In the budget for next year, four million crowns have been allocated for the theatre's repairs. The foyer and façade are to be renovated, and there are also plans to replace the windows. "In 2019 we will be celebrating the anniversary of the theatre, so we would like it to have a new look," Strnad stated.

In 2012, the extension serving as a new stage was completed, and the most valuable historical part remained for reconstruction. Last year, static stabilization of the corners of Dusíkova and Masarykova streets began, and this year, work on the façade and other tasks continued.

The theatre, named after local native composer and pianist Jan Ladislav Dusík (1760 to 1812), is one of the oldest stone theatres in Bohemia. Construction began in June 1867, and the building was ceremonially opened on February 28, 1869. Since then, it has undergone numerous renovations and reconstructions.

Next year, the city also aims to complete the renovations of the Grand Hotel so that guests can stay there again. The plans also include road repairs, the reconstruction of boiler rooms in the kindergarten and elementary school, and the operation of the renovated information center.
