Bojkovice (Uherskohradišťsko) - Bojkovice in Uherskohradišťsko today commenced the second phase of the renovations in the town center, where Tillich Square was recently created after a year of work. The next phase will involve the section from the square towards the church, with costs exceeding eight million crowns. This was stated by the mayor of Bojkovice, Petr Viceník (ODS), to ČTK. "A new roadway with parking spaces will be created there. The Marian Column will also be restored, and the steps leading to the church, which have been paved in the past, will be returned to their original stone. A new parking lot and sidewalk will be constructed in Husova Street," described the investment Viceník. The town will receive a grant from EU funds for the project, with Bojkovice's budget contributing about 1.5 million crowns. Bojkovice began renovating its center last April. For about 12.5 million crowns, of which nine million the city hall received from European funds, they built a square that was lacking in the town. Thanks to a petition from residents, it was named after the doctor Josef Tillich, who was involved not only in healthcare but also in culture and was one of the first patrons of the local museum. The area opposite the town hall has transformed into a meeting place for the city's inhabitants, which Bojkovice was missing. Builders modified the bank of the Olšava River, creating a landing and a relaxation terrace. The area that was used as a dusty parking lot has been paved. A replacement parking lot was created about 50 meters away. New are the bridge over the Olšava, a bus stop, and an information kiosk. According to Viceník, the town would like to repair the street Podsedky in the coming years from the other side of the square, where work has begun today. Here, the railing along the Olšava should be replaced, five rest areas with informative boards connecting to the educational trail should be created, and the entire road surface should be repaired.
