Lázně Bohdaneč (Pardubice Region) - Within two years, the Healing Spa Bohdaneč plans to build a new pavilion with a capacity of 150 beds. The current rooms are no longer sufficient for the spa. Construction could start as early as this year, with costs estimated at 60 million crowns. Jiří Vitík, the director of the company, informed ČTK today.

"We are aware that it is necessary to expand our services not only in terms of quality but also quantitatively and to target other market segments. It is already evident that our accommodation capacity is at maximum limit," said Vitík.
The pavilion will be partially located in the forest park on the edge of the spa complex. Currently, the project documentation is being prepared. "We would like to build it in the spirit of Cubism, like our Gočár pavilion, but the final shape of the new pavilion is still unknown, we are at the very beginning," added Vitík.
The spa can accommodate up to 580 clients at once. Currently, however, the Bílý pavilion is closed for renovations, so the number of beds has decreased to 509. The management of the spa is gradually modernizing all its facilities.
In March, the Gočár pavilion reopened, which is an important Cubist monument. The repairs cost four million crowns. The Bílý pavilion is awaiting a more expensive modernization costing 30 to 40 million crowns, and new equipment will cost ten to 15 million crowns.
"The construction company will replace networks, modernize heating, improve room standards, and there will be new sanitary facilities. Modern materials will be used. The pavilion is outdated, it does not meet the standard we want to provide to our clients," said the director.
Last year, the spa provided care to about 11,500 clients. The year before last, around 12,000 people came to Bohdaneč for treatment and relaxation. The director evaluates last year's results as very good for several reasons.
"Last year, at the beginning, we recorded quite a significant loss, but through many measures, we were able to reverse the trend, and now we have a positive economic result. Since mid-year, we have gained clients, and we have recorded an increase in clientele compared to the previous year," said Vitík.
People come to the spa to treat musculoskeletal and nervous systems, and primarily utilize the peat deposits with peat that is estimated to be 4,000 years old. The spa mainly focuses on patients whose stays are covered by health insurance companies, while wellness stays have been restricted.
According to Director Vitík, the spa has successfully adjusted to the indication list, which reduced the number of diagnoses and shortened stays covered by health insurance companies. The regulation, according to a resolution of the Constitutional Court, should only be valid until the end of the year, after which covered stays will be extended again.
"If the stay is extended from three weeks to four, mathematically that is a 25 percent increase, which is significant and, of course, a big plus for us," said Vitík.
