Benešov – Benešov is preparing a renovation of the Karlov cultural center, with the main goal of reducing energy costs. The work will cost 72 million crowns, and the city has secured almost 38 million crowns from the State Environmental Fund for the project. Documentation is currently being prepared, and construction work is expected to begin at the beginning of next year, said Deputy Mayor Jakub Hostek (Benešov for Life).
The aim of the renovation of the cultural center is to reduce the energy intensity of the building. Workers will insulate the facade, replace windows and lighting, and install a photovoltaic power plant on the roof.
A condition for the allocation of the grant is the completion of the project by the end of 2027, which means that the next ball season must be canceled. This will affect all planned events in the cultural center, including prom balls, other social events, and the city's representative ball. In Benešov, it is also possible to hold balls at the Municipal Theater Na Poště.
