Aš (Cheb Region) - The town of Aš has a new zoning plan after ten years. Its preparation was necessary not only for investors who want to start building a large entrepreneurial complex in Aš but also for the targeted development of housing construction, said the mayor of Aš, Dalibor Blažek, to reporters today. "In recent years, new house construction has been concentrated more in the surroundings of the town. This has led to the emergence of new satellites, which significantly increases the costs of city management. More roads need to be repaired, waste disposal is more expensive, we are building new public lighting, and so on. Meanwhile, the inner city is demolished," Blažek stated. According to the new zoning plan, further housing construction could thus be concentrated more in the center of the town. The city hall also has a development study for the entire new district. Representatives of the BCD Group have also been eagerly waiting for the new zoning plan. Israeli investors have chosen Aš for their plan to build a commercial and industrial complex worth billions of crowns. According to Blažek, the investors have not re-evaluated their plans despite the global financial crisis. "It is possible that, on the contrary, it may be cheaper for them to build during this time," Blažek added. BCD Group plans to build a complex with apartments, a hotel, shops, and a hospital near Aš. They plan to invest a total of 25 billion crowns in the complex over the next ten years. In the first phase, the hotel with a conference center and casino should be built. According to the latest information, construction could begin in the second half of 2009. The newly approved zoning plan did not meet the BCD Group's expectations in only one area. The city council is not keen on a logistics center on the edge of Aš. "We would rather push investors to create, for example, an industrial area that would employ more people," Blažek added.
