Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou (Znojmo region) - The Town Hall in Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou in the Znojmo region will have architects prepare a feasibility study for the reconstruction and subsequent use of the considerably dilapidated castle by the end of October. By January 2016, the city leadership is expected to decide whether the Town Hall will embark on its restoration. Hrušovany's mayor Miroslav Miloš (Independent) stated this to ČTK today. The restoration of the building will cost around 120 million Czech crowns. "We hope that the architects will come up with a cheaper option for its repair. They are also looking into how such buildings are utilized not only in the Czech Republic and Moravia, but also in Austria," he noted. The Town Hall is considering that after the repairs, there could be an exhibition about sugar production in the castle. Another part would serve social purposes, and the remainder could include a restaurant, a wine cellar, and accommodation. In 2010, the Hrušovany town hall found a buyer for the property with a promise that the monument would soon be restored. However, the company did not pay for the castle, and the matter then had to be dealt with by the court. It ruled that the monument belongs to the town. Since then, the town hall has been unable to find another developer interested in investing in the castle's restoration. The city will have no choice but to reconstruct the building itself. Similar problems are faced by dozens of town halls. This mainly concerns small towns; larger ones can afford to allocate funds from their budget at least for partial restoration of properties. Towns like Bzenec in the Hodonín region, Ivanovice na Hané in the Vyškov region, or Břeclav are currently looking for uses for their castle.
