Berlin - In Frankfurt am Main, after delays, the first museum of electronic music in Germany could open in the second quarter of this year. This is what the project's head, Alex Azary, hopes for, according to the DPA agency. According to him, it will primarily depend on the development of the coronavirus pandemic.

"Currently, we are looking at the end of May or the beginning of June. Whether it will work out will become clear in the coming weeks," said Azary, who is the chairman of the Friends of Momem association. Momem is short for the Museum of Modern Electronic Music.

"The timeline stands or falls with the development of the coronavirus situation. We are ready to launch," Azary assured. Momem is set to be created in the mezzanine of the historic Hauptwache building, which currently serves as a café. According to Azary, the renovation is practically agreed upon.

According to the original plan, the electronic music museum was supposed to open in 2019, but the date was postponed due to financing disputes and the coronavirus crisis, reported DPA.

According to DPA, Frankfurt am Main is considered one of the birthplaces of electronic music in Germany. The new museum is supposed to commemorate an important part of the history of the home city of famous clubs like Dorian Gray, Omen, or U60311.
