Steven Holl has presented his second unconventional skyscraper project in the last two months. The horizontal Vanke Center in the Chinese city of Shenzhen reminded some of our readers of El Lissitzky's
“Cloud Iron”. His new skyscrapers in the Copenhagen district of Ørestaden do not hide their source of inspiration. The project of five so-called “T-houses” was published on January 15, 2007, on the website arcspace, according to which Holl has created a new ideal for residential typology based on urban density. On the arranged grassy strips, a giant printing T dances with colored and reflective undersides, slicing through the sky. Holl reportedly found his inspiration “in the twilight of the Scandinavian sky”. Construction is expected to begin later this year. Link>
