Paris - It didn’t take even two weeks for a real estate agency from Strasbourg in the eastern part of the country to sell more than two dozen apartments that had previously been unsold for months. They decided to add a Mercedes A-Class car as a bonus for each apartment and cover the notary fees for the clients.
Not everyone, however, is a fan of small Mercedes cars, and many prospective homebuyers were satisfied with a discount equivalent to the value of the car - a three-room apartment thus decreased in price from 145,300 euros to 118,000, that is, from 3.7 million CZK to three million.
The agency's director, Liza Yakoubová, admitted that the company's margins were nearly wiped out by this promotion. But on the other hand, she wanted to end the sale of apartments, of which 500 had been built as part of the project in the suburbs of Mulhouse.
According to her, three-quarters of the buyers purchased the apartments for their own residence, while the rest acquired them as an investment.
The promotion was prompted by the deepening economic crisis, which practically froze the credit market. This complicated the provision of mortgages, without which acquiring housing is unthinkable for the vast majority of French people.
