Rome - Manuscripts and drawings by the genius Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci will be made available for the first time this Saturday through the digital archive E-Leo, established by the Library of Leonardo da Vinci in the Tuscan town of Vinci. This was reported by the EFE agency.
The archive will enable the deciphering of da Vinci's complex records intertwined with drawings and supplemented with notes. More than 6000 pages of manuscripts and drawings by the genius artist and inventor (1452-1519) will be available for free study. The digital archive is jointly funded by Leonardo's library and the European Union.
The Library of Leonardo da Vinci, founded in 1928 and housing his impressive works, created the E-Leo archive with the aim of enabling not just reading and studying but also understanding the genius creator, according to a statement issued by the institution.
However, the E-Leo project aims to go even further, and in addition to the extensive works of Leonardo, a digital archive of manuscripts related to the history of science and technology in the Middle Ages and Renaissance is to be created. The E-Leo archive, which will be officially presented on Friday, can be found at www.leonardodigitale.com.
