The New York Times announced that the Glass House in New Canaan by Philip Johnson should be open to the public from April 2007. The glass pavilion from 1949, where its author passed away a year and a half ago, along with the house for Mrs. Farnsworth, is one of only two post-war buildings included in the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Before opening to the public, several minor construction modifications were made: the flat roof was renovated, one of the glass panes was replaced, which a wild turkey once flew into, and a new ramp for wheelchair users was built. Tours will be conducted regularly from Tuesday to Sunday for groups of up to ten people.
It is already possible to make electronic reservations. Info>
