A six-million-pound injection from the national lottery (out of a total required eight million pounds) has enabled the rescue of the most significant British monument of the 1930s. The De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill-on-Sea was designed by Erich Mendelsohn, who, alongside his partner Felix Samuely, beat out 229 other competition entries. Construction began in January 1935. As reported by yesterday's The Daily Telegraph - here, the grand opening of the renovated pavilion is scheduled for mid-October.
