The exhibition has reopened the space under Plečnik's stairs

Prague - The hall under Plečnik's staircase in the South Gardens of Prague Castle has reopened to the public after six years. From today until October 29, an exhibition of abstract sculptures and objects by Jindřich Zeithamml and his former student Monika Immrová is installed there.
    The collection is titled Dialogues and is, according to information from today's press conference, the first in a planned series of the same name, which is intended to present contemporary art in the newly accessible space every summer season. According to the curators of the project, contemporary visual art has noticeably been missing from the exhibition program at the Castle, although it "does not have to be necessarily provocative."
    The vaulted space under the staircase leading to the Paradise Garden of Prague Castle was created during renovations planned from 1920 to 1931 by Slovene architect Josip Plečnik.
    Fifty-seven-year-old Zeithamml and thirty-six-year-old Immrová selected works for this unique space in such a way that they form a cohesive whole and correspond in size, format, material, shape, and colors with each other. They participated in the installation of the objects themselves.
    "I don't feel that anything 'sticks out' anywhere. And I am pleased to find that my works will hold their own next to Mr. Zeithamml's pieces," said Immrová to ČTK.
