In May of this year, the Famous Villas edition culminated in the opening of the exhibition Famous Villas of the Central Bohemian Region and the publication of the same name. Thus, a successful multi-year project that began in 2004 with the exhibition Famous Prague Villas was completed.
We invite you to the culmination of this project, which is the autumn collective exhibition Famous Villas of Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia. The exhibition will be presented in the premises of the National Technical Library building in Prague's Dejvice from October 19 to November 29, 2010.
The aim of the exhibition, prepared under the guidance of Prof. Vladimír Šlapeta and Prof. Pavel Zatloukal, is primarily to showcase all forms of villas and family houses across time, styles, and proportions, compositions, and spaces. The exhibition seeks to summarize not only the years of mapping villa architecture in our country but also poses the simple question: What is a villa?
At the exhibition, you can view a wide selection of villas and family houses from all regions of the Czech Republic. To enhance the experience, the exhibition is supplemented with furniture and applied design that illustrates the theme with practical and, above all, authentic objects, which are the only link to the real materials and scale of historical space, as well as many models of various villas.
The entire exhibition is supported by a range of accompanying programs, and you can also look forward to the days of individual regions and cities, which will showcase not only their villa architecture but also other monuments and traditions. The exhibition will conclude with a lecture series House Yesterday and Today.
Like all previous exhibitions, the opening of the exhibition Famous Villas of Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia was accompanied by the launch of the publication of the same name.
