PRAGUE - A gallery on Školská street in Prague 1 is exhibiting projects that combine art and new technologies. The exhibition is called Echoes of Entermultimediale and recalls the festival of the same name held last year. "We are presenting installations that were supposed to be part of the exhibition but, for various reasons, did not take place. The exhibition also falls within our long-term strategy to present multimedia projects more frequently throughout the year," said Pavel Smetana, the director of the organizing International Center for Art and New Technologies (CIANT), to journalists today.

The Entermultimediale art and new technology festival first took place in 2000, last year the organizers held its second edition, and they would like to organize another next year. The exhibition focused on experimental work that combines classical art media with digital formats was held, among other venues, at the memorial on Vítkov and at the Žižkov television tower.
The festival, for example, presents performances and installations that combine theater and dance with computer-based creations. Another area includes projects related to the phenomenon of computer games, pushing them into different contexts. Alongside musical programs, there was also a conference addressing, for instance, the relationship between art and biotechnology.
The exhibition in the space at Školská 28 showcases two installations that play with the theme of computer games and change their original meaning. The project Magma.id was created by French artist and programmer Pascal Silondi. Visitors to the gallery can immerse themselves in a virtual reality installation using special glasses that display a three-dimensional virtual world. The original virtual environment consists of computer models of Žižkov's architecture - including the television tower. The project is also accessible online at www.ciant.cz/magma.
The second installation, called Final Countdown, was created by an author who does not want to disclose his identity - he presents himself solely through his work. He is reportedly from Venezuela and goes by the name Archila Vimmi. The displayed project is an artistic modification of a well-known action 3D computer game - military assassins put down their weapons and dance.
The exhibition will run until March 16. On Friday, March 10, American artist, programmer, and musician Jeremy Bernstein will perform as part of it, presenting his unconventional musical concept based on the direct interaction of the audio track with video or computer animation. On Saturday, March 11, there will be a performance by French artist Stéphane Kyles, who mixes content from the internet in real time.
