The exhibition of the Kamil Mrva Architects studio premiered at the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery in Prague at the beginning of this year. For the Zlín reprise, several new exhibition panels with the latest realizations and projects are prepared.

Architect Kamil Mrva (1974) is one of the most prominent representatives of the younger generation of Czech architects. After graduating from the Faculty of Architecture in Brno and a brief internship at the Gama studio in Prague under the leadership of Karel Prager, he embarked on a study trip to North America, where he primarily studied the works of F. L. Wright. Full of enthusiasm from this trip, he returned to his native Kopřivnice and began working on one of his first buildings, his own family house with a studio. Here, he realized his manifesto and experienced the construction of a house from the perspective of an architect, investor, and construction supervisor. The house, bearing his typical style, attracted considerable attention and brought the young architect his first commissions. This was followed by several family houses characterized by the connection of contemporary architectural forms with traditional materials and the landscape of the Beskydy region.
Although the architect gained remarkable renown with his wooden constructions, he did not limit himself to this technology, and in the next stage of his work, he expanded the architectural repertoire to include other materials and architectural tasks. The exhibition presents the work of Kamil Mrva Architects studio at a time of a certain turning point. The portfolio of realizations includes larger buildings and sets. The dominant construction material of the currently under-construction houses is no longer just wood. Kamil Mrva approaches other materials, such as stone, concrete, metal, and glass, in a way that utilizes their typical properties to create simple, clean, and functional buildings. Several recently developed projects relate to public space.
Kamil Mrva has been working for over ten years in his studio in Kopřivnice; however, the projects are no longer exclusively tied to the Beskydy region. Despite the increasing volume of contracts, he works with a small team of collaborators, and many students have passed through his studio.
