What can grow in the arboretum?

Arboretum Nový Dvůr
Opening on July 10, 2013, at 4:00 PM

Exhibition from July 11 – September 1, 2013

Spherical cinema, theater, café, or mini-farm. This is how the future architects from Ostrava envision the Arboretum in Nový Dvůr. Twelve students from the Department of Architecture at the VSB - Technical University of Ostrava spent two semesters exploring the genius loci of one of the most beautiful exhibition areas of the Silesian Museum. They examined its opportunities and weaknesses and sought a way for the Nový Dvůr arboretum to remain a sought-after oasis of peace and relaxation. They built on the current development concept of the SMZ, further developing some of its ideas and adding their own concepts.
The result of this collaborative effort and a new unconventional perspective on the Arboretum is now presented by the exhibition titled What can grow in the arboretum?. Under the auspices of Ing.arch. Tomáš Bindr, Ing.arch. Jan Zelinka, and Ing.arch. Jan Kovář, interesting studies have been created that will be presented to the public for the first time. Visitors to the exhibition can view not only three fundamental urban studies but also the specific work of each student.
