Most – The Railway Administration has announced an architectural competition for the reconstruction of the train station in Most. The construction costs are estimated at nearly 850 million crowns. The task of the winning team will be to define the overall concept of the ticketing hall and commercial spaces. The project also includes the design of a bridge over the tracks, which will replace two underpasses. The reconstruction is expected to take place between 2030 and 2031, spokesperson Nela Eberl Friebová reported today.

Participants in the competition will propose the interior design of the building with the main ticketing hall and the layout of commercial spaces. According to the spokesperson, emphasis should be placed on passenger comfort. They will also focus on the design of a barrier-free bridge to the platform and to the local part of Rudolice, which is located beyond the rail yard. Their task is also to align the appearance of the bridge with the roofing of the platforms.

Part of the proposal will address the facade of the building from the 1970s to meet current technical and aesthetic requirements. Architects will propose how to utilize the eastern part of the building, which could serve, for example, for healthcare facilities, and to transform the former restaurant into an exhibition of artworks from railway constructions. The assignment includes a design for the use of the tall part of the building.

In the future, only today's departure hall will serve for passenger check-in in Most. The smaller arrival hall will no longer be part of the public space, and both existing underpasses under the tracks will be eliminated, to be replaced by the bridge, the spokesperson added.
