Lysá nad Labem / Milovice - Proposals for special regime homes intended primarily for seniors with dementia, which are set to be built in the coming years in Lysá nad Labem and Milovice in the Nymburk region, will come from an architectural competition. The cities will announce it together in the coming weeks; the winner could be known by summer, said Karel Marek (Lysá connects us), the mayor of Lysá nad Labem, and Milan Pour (ANO), the mayor of Milovice, to ČTK. The cities and the Central Bohemian Region had previously agreed that the city halls would ensure the preparatory phase for the construction of new facilities, while the region would cover the construction costs. Each home is expected to offer 70 places.
The councils of both cities approved a contract for the joint announcement of the architectural competition. "The competition will be for the building in Lysá with an option for the building in Milovice," said Marek. The costs of the competition, amounting to five million crowns, will be shared between the cities, with Lysá nad Labem covering 60 percent of the costs and Milovice 40 percent.
The council of Lysá nad Labem also approved the composition of the jury on Monday, which will select the winning proposal. Part of it consists of representatives from the cities, including both mayors, but mainly architects, who will have the majority in the jury five to four. The architectural competition, prepared by Moba studio, will be announced as a public procurement by Lysá nad Labem and will be under the auspices of the Czech Chamber of Architects.
"I expect the competition to be announced at the end of February," said Marek. He anticipates that the evaluation could take place in July. "After that, we will begin negotiations gradually with the first, possibly second or third, about a contract for the project; the cities will negotiate independently," Marek added. According to him, the architectural competition will allow the cities to obtain more interesting proposals. The city also plans to exhibit all the proposals from the competition.
The design process is expected to take approximately two years, with the costs of the design work for each city estimated at 15 to 17 million crowns. The completed projects are to be handed over to the region by the cities. Construction could then commence in 2030, according to Marek. The estimated cost of construction work for both homes is a maximum of 770 million crowns excluding VAT.
"The homes will be built to the standard for special regimes, but are intended for seniors with all types of health conditions, from severe cases to lighter ones," said Alžběta Trousilová, the spokesperson for Lysá nad Labem, to ČTK. In Lysá nad Labem, the Central Bohemian Region is currently establishing a home with a capacity of 115 beds, but the facility in the castle premises is inadequate. A new building is to be created in the northern part of the city. In Milovice, where there is no similar facility, an area above the Haken Stadium has been designated for construction. In both buildings, plans include a ground floor and two above-ground floors.
