BRNO - Investors and designers will compete in the South Moravian Region for the best building completed in the past year. They will compete in six categories. The best student project will also be recognized. Interested parties can submit their proposals to the competition until February 15, said today to ČTK the chairman of the organizing South Moravian Construction Society, Lubomír Mikš. The results of the competition will be announced in April at the International Construction Fair in Brno.

"The main criterion will definitely not be size, as even small buildings can be of high quality," said Mikš. The evaluation will focus primarily on fulfilling functional requirements, the architectural expression of the work, its integration into the surroundings, and the quality of the construction work carried out. The expert jury will also assess the suitability of the building materials used, originality, energy efficiency, and environmental impact.
A novelty in this year's edition is the separate categories for residential buildings and civic amenities, which have been of the greatest interest in the past, and therefore the originally joint category was divided this year. As in previous years, there will also be selections among industrial buildings, transport and water management facilities, and ecological constructions. A special category is dedicated to reconstructions.
The South Moravia Construction Competition aims to promote quality projects and increase the visibility of design, contracting, and investment entities in South Moravia. Last year, 24 projects competed.
