Ideological plan for the Blatná Land Use Plan
Single-round public ideological anonymous urban competition

Organizer: City of Blatná
Competition date: 17.9. - 31.10.2012
Number of submitted proposals: 14
Jury: Jan Jehlík, Laura Jablonská, Vladimír Krajíc, Robert Flandera, Václav Koubek; alternates: Hana Špalková, Ing. Martin Dolejš
Total prizes and awards: 135,000 CZK

1st prize (60,000 CZK): Šimon Vojtík, Michal Petr, Jana Urbanová, Barbora Mluvková (co-author)
Jury's assessment: A very complex and valuable proposal, the relationship between the idea and the design itself is balanced with a comprehensible graphic processing. The values of the idea include the connection between the city and the landscape, limitations on growth with awareness of demographic limits, and development in terms of transformation and intensification. The use of myth-making elements (e.g., gates, edges, shores, etc.) is very valuable. The even approach within broader relationships, the whole of the city, and details is also appreciated.

2nd prize (35,000 CZK): MOBA studio s. r. o.
Jury's assessment: A visually very valuable proposal that convincingly enhances the image of the city. The strategic part positively assesses economy, support for job opportunities, "active landscape," and "city as a social project." The extent of development in the northeastern and eastern parts (e.g., around the cemetery), including the proposed structure of the buildings in these areas, seems problematic. The solution to transportation in all its manifestations is not sufficiently clear.

3rd prize (20,000 CZK): Michal Dvořák, Ivan Gogolák, Lukáš Grasse, Libor Pánek
Jury's assessment: A comprehensive valuable proposal that addresses demographics, broader relationships, and the details of the city. The depiction of the urban vista in the proposal is valued, for example. However, the synthetic drawing lacks clarity. The question in this context is the expression of the overall image of the city and the meaning of symbolic elements in specific urban forms.

3rd prize (20,000 CZK): Petr Hnátek, Radim Oblouk
Jury's assessment: The main positive aspect of this proposal is the careful characterization of locations, clear strategic elements, and analysis of the city, its relationships, and principles. In this context, the strategic goal of "quality of life as a stabilizing element" appears to be a very good choice. The main problem is projecting analytical layers into the synthetic drawing and the absence of a final image of the city.
