The extension of Dr. Malík Primary School in Chrudim will cost almost 45 million crowns

Chrudim – The extension of the Dr. Malík Primary School in Chrudim will cost approximately 45 million crowns including VAT. This is about five million crowns less than anticipated by the project budget. Eight companies participated in the tender, said councilor Aleš Nunvář (Pirates). The school's capacity is already insufficient, so it will be expanded with a new building in the school garden.

"After the contract is signed, preparatory work will begin so that we can hand over the construction site as soon as possible. There is a fixed deadline for completion by the end of June next year, so the school will still have the summer months to equip the interiors and prepare for classes. From September 2027, normal teaching should function in the extension," Nunvář stated.

The single-story extension will include a classroom for first-graders, classrooms for art education and languages, restrooms, changing rooms, and a staff room. There will be play elements and recreational equipment for after-school care in the area between the current building and the extension.

The Dr. Malík Primary School in Chrudim opened in 1991. Its capacity is 520 students, with two classes in each grade. The school includes an after-school program and a cafeteria. Jan Malík, a native of Chrudim, was a prominent puppeteer. He contributed to the establishment of the Museum of Puppetry Cultures in Chrudim, with a large portion of the exhibits coming from his collections.
