Firma Schiedel announces the 2nd year of the competition for students

The company Schiedel, along with the Center for Support of Computer Graphics and Media Support of the TZB-info portal, announces the 2nd year of the competition "My Family House." The competition, with an interesting financial reward for the winners, aims to motivate students to create projects using CAD technologies and to familiarize them with the issues of chimney systems. The competition was announced at the beginning of the new school year 2008, and the winners will be announced in April 2009 at the IBF fair in Brno.

As has already been shown in the previous year, the competition "My Family House" is a good opportunity for students to try creating a house project under expert supervision, including a design for environmentally friendly heating, using modern CAD technologies. The competition thus helps familiarize students with the practical side of their field and serves as a good entry point into the professional world. Moreover, the best students will again win cash prizes, where the winner will receive 15,000 CZK, the second-place winner 9,000 CZK, and the third 6,000 CZK. A competition project can be submitted either by an individual student or a student collective, who will work on the project under the guidance of an educator. The project is to be processed in the ArchiCAD environment and must use the GDL libraries of Schiedel. "We have been developing our own GDL libraries since 2005 and gradually making them available to designers, architects, and through this competition, also to students as an effective tool for easy application in projects. The current GDL libraries of Schiedel are available on our website www.schiedel.cz, and detailed competition conditions can also be found there," said Vojtěch Policar, director of Schiedel.

From the academic community, Jaroslav Kuba, head of the TZB department at VŠB Ostrava, will participate in the decision-making, and the editor-in-chief of the eArchitekt portal Petr Vaněk will represent the professional media," adds Ing.
