FA VUT: architects, heal your bar

Pop café bar, which we have at school, is on its last legs (we drink little beer and coffee there) and it is quite possible that it will not be here next semester. We think it is an important space for the school to meet for passionate discussions about architecture and for fostering the faculty. We want to make the bar more attractive and lively so that it becomes a favorite spot and replaces the much-missed shared large-format studio, and therefore we are announcing a competition for the reconstruction of the interior of Pop café.

First Prize:
A one-year subscription to Era21 magazine and a luxurious dinner at Pop café (service - Zinďák in a tuxedo)

Competition Conditions:
1. A proposal for the reconstruction of the interior (without a kitchen) of the Pop café bar in relation to its renovation.
2. The proposal must be feasible within a two-day workshop. It is recommended to work with leftover materials from students’ households and from the used materials store at the BVV exhibition grounds. (chairs, particle board, textiles, carpets...)
The cost of purchased materials should not exceed around 10,000 CZK.
3. The possibility of incorporating foosball (or other entertainment) into the space.
4. It is recommended to work with existing installations (chandeliers, outlets, sinks).
5. Preparation for positioning a television or monitor, or projector (screening films about architecture).
6. The bar must allow exhibitions, primarily of studio works from our school (respecting the standardized format A1/B1).
7. The proposal may address the planned sale of architecture magazines.
8. For submission, the project should be prepared in one or two A1 formats, with the only mandatory item being the floor plan (presentation of the idea in any form, emphasis on detail and structural feasibility).
The poster will be marked with any five-digit code, along with the proposal an envelope with the same number will be submitted, containing the authors' names.
9. The possibility to participate in the associated competition for a new name and logo for the faculty bar, the floor plan of the bar will be available on the intranet.
