The architectural and artistic competition for the statue of T. G. Masaryk at School Square was announced by the city of Hranice. The goal is to propose the realization of an artistic work, including its permanent incorporation into the intimate space in front of the Basic Art School. The competition was prepared in collaboration with the Czech Chamber of Architects. The independent jury members are the dean of the Brno Faculty of Fine Arts, Milan Houser, architect Petr Janda, and the director of the Museum of Art in Olomouc, Michal Soukup. Traditional figurative interpretation is not required, and the artistic work's form is left to the creative imagination of the authors. The competition does not exclude modifications to the School Square itself. The competition brief is available on the city's website and its official bulletin board, downloadable here: https://www.mesto-hranice.cz/uredni-deska/architektonicko-vytvarna-soutez-socha-t-g-masaryka-na-skolnim-namesti-v-hranicich-e-c-29-2019 The deadline for submitting competition designs is April 15. After the announcement of the results, the competition designs will be presented at a joint exhibition, and the realization period will depend on the nature of the selected work.
