Or is it necessary to find a development concept and regulatory approach that will meet these seemingly contradictory demands? We will attempt to demonstrate through three student projects representing three levels of spatial planning – development concept (Prague), land-use plan (Mnichovo Hradiště), and regulatory plan (Prague, Letná) – how it is possible to protect the character of areas, develop their values, and simultaneously address often conflicting demands. How is the upcoming Metropolitan Plan addressing them, and is a new building law necessary for this?
