At the foothills of Radhošť, in Trojanovice, is another of our buildings – this time for a private client, a living-in-nature and horse breeding enthusiasts.
Previously a location of an unattractive house, but with a spectacular tree and a few smaller ancillary buildings. Houses with a specimen tree have been common in Walachia for a long time and to this day they are often found scattered about the countryside, each house with a little garden and a small orchard, as well as an adequate pasture for cattle.
The new house is compact, with a simple rectangular footprint, following the tradition of Beskydy buildings. We preserved the tree and next to it built a two story timber house with a gabled roof and two long dormer windows. The interior layout is an open plan, maximising the contact between the indoor and outdoor. A porch leads into a passage, utility room and a bathroom. Overlooking the garden is a kitchen cum dining room and a living room. The central part of the house, above the dining room, is elevated towards the attic, which comprises the bedroom, living room, dressing room and bathroom.
The house is constructed of CLT panels, the ground floor generously glazed with views of nature and the Beskydy mountains. The façade is clad in larch boards and the roof is covered in dark sheet metal.
