The residential project “U Kazínské Skály” was created by transforming an old warehouse complex in the center of the town of Černošice, located in the southwestern suburbs of Prague. The aim of the renovation was to bring quality architecture and new public spaces to a neglected area in the center of a small town and create new pedestrian routes through the complex towards a nearby natural location along the Berounka River.
The project builds on the first phase and includes 14 apartments and 2 non-residential spaces. The layouts of the individual apartments are designed to maximize the beautiful views of the surrounding natural scenery.
The mass of the building is divided into three slightly shifted sections. The central section has a shed roof, while the smaller sections have flat roofs. This volumetric solution is supported by the material design of the facades – a combination of brick cladding and colored plaster. This results in a perceived reduction of the object and a better blending with the character of the surrounding development.
The apartment building stands on garages located below ground level with an entrance from the adjacent street. The design was created in such a way that the garages are essentially invisible and the greenery, including trees, shrubs, and lawns, completely covers them.
Great emphasis was placed on the design of the semi-public common space and its surroundings. The combination of split granite paving and large-format concrete slabs at the entrance creates the impression of an entrance keyboard.
Common areas and apartment furnishings are also carefully addressed.
