The Mulligan Golf Bar project represents a new approach to urban golf – a place where architecture, technology, and atmosphere function as a cohesive whole. The design was developed by architects from the studio 20–20–ARCHITEKTI, who conceptualized the 130 m² space in Smíchov City as a reinterpretation of outdoor sports in an urban interior.
The architectural concept draws inspiration from the Scottish Highlands, the cradle of golf. The goal of the architects was not to create thematic decoration but to materialize the landscape – to translate its shape, structure, and mood into the interior. The ceiling installation reminiscent of heaths transforms the space into an abstract piece of nature. It undulates above the players' heads like a living relief, creating a changing play of colors, light, and shadow. Beneath it unfolds a composition of a tiered floor with five freely arranged "stones" – handcrafted artifacts with natural wood grain that connect the landscape motif with the world of design. Concrete, wood, and deep shades of green form the basic material palette that underscores the raw poetry of the design. The composition is modest, and the architecture remains a backdrop for movement, light, play, and gathering.
The layout is designed with an emphasis on clarity and smooth operation. From the entrance bar and reception, the space transitions into a relaxation zone and further to a pair of TrackMan IO simulators, which represent the technological core of the project, combining precise training data with quick mini-games or full 18 holes, even on the legendary St Andrews course. Mulligan brings the first truly hospitality-led indoor golf to the center of Prague without compromise – with a real club, ball, and feeling of the game. Players hit into a soft projection screen, while radar and camera technology monitor every detail of the shot and instantly display the ball's flight and trajectory. Beginners will appreciate immediate feedback and a friendly environment, groups will enjoy fun and competitiveness, and demanding players will have detailed statistics and rankings, each at their own pace and approach.
This concept, which has gained mass popularity in South Korea and is rapidly expanding in the USA and European cities, attracts a new audience to golf and gives experienced players the opportunity to stay in the game at any time of day. Mulligan is the exclusive partner of Albatross Golf Resort, host of the European Tour tournaments, and brings its sports precision and culture of the game to Prague.
It's also worth mentioning the bar and café area with specialty coffee, original drinks, and a whiskey program inspired by Scottish tradition, which is not a mere accessory but part of the overall atmosphere – a space meant to be just as pleasant for focused training as for an evening conversation at the bar.
The name Mulligan, which in golf signifies a "second chance," takes on a symbolic dimension here – an invitation for experienced players and those looking to try something new.
