20 Apartments for the Eldery

20 Apartments for the Eldery
Situated in a working class area that dates from the 1930's, this is a complex of 20 apartments stacked into a four-storey building oriented towards the south-east in order to enjoy a large green public common.
On this very public side there is a perforated aluminum screen with a mediating space behind. These galleries and screen act as a filter between the public street and the private interior.
The tenants inhabit this 3 m deep space which functions as a circulation, communication, and social arena that is visually connected to the surroundings through the perforated screen, although they are hidden from view from the outside.
A brick facade with individual balconies faces north-west where the buildings' garden is designed as a collective outdoor space.
