Prague - Prague 10 will negotiate with eight interested parties who submitted bids for the purchase of the now-vacated town hall building on Vršovická Street and the adjacent cultural house Eden in the second round of the call. The city district will also negotiate with three interested parties who offered buildings in another call, where the town hall could relocate. This was stated in a press release today by the spokesperson of the city district, Ján Bruno Tropp. Currently, the Prague 10 office is located in rented premises on Vinohradská Street, which it had to move to due to the emergency condition of the original town hall.

The names of the interested parties and the offers themselves cannot be published at this time according to the spokesperson, as negotiations with the applicants have not yet begun and the disclosure of information could influence their course. "This is one of the steps in a carefully prepared and coordinated process aimed at obtaining a new headquarters for the town hall that will meet the needs of the office and the residents of the district," commented the progress by the mayor of the city district, Martin Valovič (ODS).

Deputy Mayor Tomáš Pek (TOP 09) added that a professional analysis and commission were created for the process, where, besides the coalition, opposition representatives and representatives of owners' associations (SVJ) from the surrounding buildings also sit. Five SVJs previously approached Prague 10 with a letter in which they disagreed with the terms of the call for bids for the purchase, which they believe do not sufficiently protect the existing residents.

The town hall on Vršovická Street had to be vacated by the city district office due to its emergency condition at the end of 2023, and since then it has been located in rented premises in an office building on Vinohradská Street in Strašnice. The leadership of the city district had already published one call before the current one, in which 11 entities expressed interest in purchasing the town hall and the cultural house. Subsequently, the city district evaluated the first call and issued a second one based on new information, to which interested parties could apply until June 13.

Prague 10 originally wanted to renovate its town hall building, but due to delays, according to its representatives, the costs exceeded the possibilities of the city district. The planned sale is criticized by the opposition Pirates and ANO, who claim that the city district will deprive itself of a strategic property that the city can utilize by selling its town hall.
