<div>Residential construction in the Olomouc region increased by 38% year-on-year this year up to June</div>

Olomouc – In the Olomouc Region, the construction of 800 apartments was started in the first half of this year, which is an increase of 38 percent year-on-year. In the entire Czech Republic, residential construction rose by nearly 40 percent in the first six months to 22,785 apartments. Eleven regions reported growth. The information was obtained by ČTK from data provided by the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ).

The most apartments in the Olomouc Region were started by companies in the Olomouc area (254 apartments) and the Prostějov area (236 apartments) from January to June this year. This was followed by the Šumperk district (182 apartments), Přerov (92 apartments), and Jeseník (36 apartments). "Except for the Přerov district, other districts recorded an increased number of started apartments compared to the first half of 2025, when the lowest number of started apartments in the region was achieved in the last ten years,” stated Jarmila Benešová from the Olomouc branch of ČSÚ.

In the Olomouc Region in the first half of this year, new construction predominated, concerning 616 apartments. Changes in completed constructions created 184 apartments. Almost half of all apartments being built in the region this year are in new family houses, accounting for 391 apartments.

In Olomouc, several large residential projects are currently being prepared, constructed, or completed. Development companies are building apartments in the Slavonín city district, and others have been created in the area of the former telecommunications company SPT Telecom at Tabulový vrch. The company Sochorova stavební has built more than 300 apartments on the site of the former barracks in the center of Olomouc.

Over 200 apartments were built in the area of the former malt houses and freezing plants by the development company Link City Centrum NS. The development group Redstone is constructing the Šantovka Living complex, which includes 12 apartment buildings, in several stages not far from the city center.

Other large residential projects in Olomouc are in the preparation phase. The company Objekt Invest plans to build over 2000 apartments in the outskirts of Olomouc. The residential project Green City anticipates that around 5100 inhabitants will live in this new district.

The construction and development group Gemo plans to build a residential neighborhood with 902 apartments on the western edge of Olomouc. The residential project Nová Okružní in the Neředín city district of Olomouc recently entered the screening process according to the Environmental Impact Assessment Act.

For the entire last year, the construction of 1686 apartments was started in the Olomouc Region, which is a decrease of half a percent year-on-year. In 2024, residential construction in the region revived after a previous decline. The construction of 1694 apartments began in the region, which is an increase of 14.5 percent year-on-year. In 2023, 1475 apartments were started in the region, which is 34.6 percent less compared to 2022. In 2022, residential construction, on the contrary, increased by a third.
