Liapor is one of the main suppliers of acoustic masonry in the Czech market. It continuously improves the parameters of its AKU blocks. The latest innovation is a reduction in bulk density from 1,530 kg/m³ to 1,400 kg/m³ while maintaining an airborne sound insulation index of 57 dB for the Liapor M 240 RW AKU block.

Masonry system with a wide range of advantages not only for commercial construction

Especially in the construction of apartment buildings, office buildings, and other commercial properties, the weight of the masonry used and the ratio of wall thickness to acoustic properties play a very significant role. In Liapor masonry, the optimal ratio of these parameters is achieved thanks to the addition of lightweight ceramic aggregate Liapor. The blocks of the Liapor M series are designed to achieve a high airborne sound insulation index
Rw with the smallest possible wall thickness. The chamber effect, which occurs due to the porosity of the blocks, results in this masonry having higher acoustic attenuation than load-bearing and non-load-bearing walls made of other traditional masonry materials at the same surface mass. The material seamlessly meets the increased requirements according to ČSN 73 0532 for sound insulation between rooms in buildings. Measured Rw values reach up to 59 dB, allowing this material to be used for inter-apartment walls as well. This is particularly advantageous in modern urban centers that combine commercial administrative areas with apartments, where requirements for the acoustic parameters of masonry are even more demanding. The outer walls use blocks from the Liatherm and Liapor SL series. For internal load-bearing walls, blocks from the Liapor M series are designated, designed to achieve a high airborne sound insulation index and higher static load-bearing values with the least possible wall thickness. The Liapor range also includes calibrated blocks with perfectly parallel horizontal bed joints, precisely ground on a special grinding line. High shape and geometric accuracy of the blocks (KSL, Liatherm K, and Liapor KM, all with a height of 248 mm) allows for thin-layer masonry on mortar beds with a thickness of only 2 mm. Overall, it reduces the labor intensity of masonry, prevents thermal bridging, and by reducing the thickness of the bed joint by about 10 mm (up to 80%) to a resultant 2 mm, it saves on mortar and thus reduces moisture in the masonry, which dries faster. It also decreases the risks of crack formation at the joints and in the plasters.

Fire parameters

Another fundamental property of materials used in the construction of commercial properties is their fire-resistance properties. In large commercial buildings, different types of walls with varying fire parameters are designed for different parts of the building. Liapor system blocks have undergone testing in accredited testing laboratories, and their parameters have also been examined by reputable university research facilities. According to the results obtained, they comply with the relevant Czech standards and can therefore be used in the most fire-risk areas of the building.
