San Rafael, California – Autodesk announced that the number of licenses sold for its software applications has exceeded eight million, confirming the growing strength of both specialized and broader solutions. This milestone demonstrates the continuous growth in sales of Autodesk's 2D applications, new software licenses in emerging economies, and robust revenue growth from Autodesk’s 3D modeling applications.
In the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2007, Autodesk delivered over 47,000 commercial user seats for its 3D applications, including Autodesk Inventor, Civil 3D, and Revit-based products. Revenue from model-based design tools increased by 40 percent year-over-year in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2006 to a record $121 million, representing 24 percent of total revenue for the quarter. The growth in licenses during the fourth quarter was also driven by a 44 percent increase in revenue in emerging economies in Asia and the Pacific, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America.
“Eight million users around the world rely on Autodesk's premium solutions, and the strong growth is driven by an increasing number of customers taking advantage of model-based 3D design, which we are thrilled about,” said Carl Bass, President and CEO of Autodesk. “Our 3D solutions allow customers in manufacturing, construction, media, and entertainment to simulate and analyze the real-world performance of conceptual designs. This contributes to faster time to market, reduced production costs, and improved quality.”
