New Vision of the Loft – international architectural conference at FAKRO

Once again, foreign architects had the opportunity to meet and discuss topics related to both Polish and foreign architecture. From October 12 to 15, a group of several dozen architects and representatives of foreign architectural magazines gathered at the conference center in Muszyna. The conference, organized at the initiative of the company FAKRO, demonstrated that meetings at such a level are a great opportunity for exchanging experiences and opinions. Representatives from many countries participated in this exceptional architectural event, including Germany, Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Spain, Greece, Hungary, and the Netherlands.


The reason for organizing the meeting was the third edition of the international architectural competition New Vision of the Loft, which took place in the middle of this year. The task for the contestants was to create a loft project utilizing FAKRO products – the balcony window Galeria and the roof windows of the proSky series. During the evaluation, emphasis was placed on the way the windows were used as well as the innovativeness and creativity of the project.
FAKRO, as a market leader in roof windows, offers a wide range of products (roof windows and interior and exterior accessories, loft stairs, solar collectors, tubular skylights, etc.) designed to meet the needs and most demanding requirements of customers.

The competition organized by FAKRO was a significant event – it attracted hundreds of architects from around the world. From the selected works, the jury, composed of a representative from the European architectural magazine A10, architect and architectural critic Hans Ibelings, architect from the renowned architectural studio Powerhouse Company Nanne de Ru, and FAKRO representative Sabina Sujew, chose the projects that best met the requirements. Given the large number of submitted projects and the interest generated by the competition, FAKRO prepared a conference where architects who participated in the competition could discuss their experiences and topics that interest them.

During the conference, architects had the opportunity to present the winning projects, speak with jury members, representatives from the European architectural magazine A10 – Bernard Savelkoel and Indira van´t Klooster, and representatives from architectural federations and other architectural magazines.

In addition to the discussion panel, participants in the New Vision of the Loft competition and the conference were able to tour the FAKRO company. They also visited selected points of interest in the Małopolska region, including Kraków and the Wieliczka salt mine, and enjoyed the attractions of the conference center at Hotel Activa.
