Hager Electro s.r.o.

For architects and interior designers, the Berker brand has long been synonymous with precise appearance and execution. The iconic round switches from the Serie 1930, inspired by Bauhaus, the elegant glass Serie Glas, and the rotary switches from the Serie R.classic are stalwarts that enhance the character of premium interiors worldwide.

Now a name change is occurring: Berker is transitioning under the Hager brand. However, this is not a sudden turnaround, but rather a logical conclusion to a development that began back in 2010 when Hager Group acquired Berker and integrated these premium switches into its portfolio.

Long-term connection that makes sense

Berker was founded in 1919 in Germany – the same year as Bauhaus, whose aesthetics significantly influenced the shape of the brand. Functionality, simplicity, and craftsmanship became its DNA. Over more than a century, Berker has built a strong position in the design electrical installations segment and has received numerous international awards.

Hager Group, a family business with more than 70 years of history and global operations in over 120 countries, has expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of Berker by adding a top design segment. Hager has been operating in the Czech Republic for over 30 years.

After more than 15 years of collaboration, the unification of brands under the name Hager is taking place, which brings greater clarity for designers, architects, and end customers.

What does this mean for practice?

From the design and implementation perspective, the changes are minimal. The only new things are the designation – logo and order codes. Functionality, installation, and usage remain unchanged. The key information is full backward compatibility: Hager products can be freely combined with existing Berker installations.

Design series continue unchanged

Under the Hager brand, you will continue to find all the well-known design lines:

  • Serie 1930 – clean geometry and functionalist aesthetics inspired by Bauhaus
  • Serie Glas – timeless elegance of glass for both classic and modern interiors
  • Serie R.classic – rotary switches with a historical reference in contemporary execution
The durable wall-mounted series W.1 with an IP55 rating, suitable for exteriors and technical spaces, also continues.

A stronger brand, the same soul

For many of us, saying goodbye to the Berker brand can be emotional. This is understandable – Berker represented a certain philosophy, an approach to the design of details that was above standard in electrical installations. The good news is that this philosophy is not going anywhere. Hager Group is adopting it as a legacy that it intends to continue developing and is justifiably proud of. Berker is now Hager. The name changes, but not the essence: quality, aesthetics, and attention to detail remain.
