Autodesk, the world leader in 2D and 3D design software for manufacturing, construction, media, and entertainment, presents the Autodesk Topobase 2009 solution. This solution will help network managers more easily integrate real-time information into processes and effectively manage their infrastructure.
“Trends in the current utility sector, including smart grids and efforts toward sustainability, demand more complex projects and better access to accurate network information,” said Lisa Campbell, Vice President of Autodesk Geospatial. “By integrating network design and asset management, Autodesk helps customers increase efficiency and data quality throughout the entire lifecycle of their assets.”
What's new in Autodesk Topobase 2009 The Autodesk Topobase application, built on AutoCAD Map 3D and Autodesk MapGuide Enterprise software, stores design and spatial information in a centralized database and provides project design teams, GIS, and field operations staff easy access to accurate asset information. Autodesk Topobase 2009 includes over 50 new features for utilities, including workflows for sewer inspection that integrate network management and video information, network diagram generation, and the ability to visualize the interiors of network infrastructures, such as transformer stations. The application works with various versions of Oracle databases and now includes vertical modules for the management of water, sewage, gas, and electric distribution networks in the base product. An example of the importance of better access to accurate asset information is the management of the growing number of private solar and wind generators. “With Autodesk, we now have all the needed data for quick approvals of new solar connections in a single system,” said Artur Brei, GIS and Documentation Manager at UEZ Lülsfeld. “What used to take several days or even two weeks, we can now process for our customers in a few hours.”
Availability The Autodesk Topobase application is now available in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, and Australia. For more information, visit www.autodesk.com/topobase.
