The company Autodesk has announced that the application Autodesk SketchBook Mobile is now available through the App Store. Autodesk SketchBook Mobile is a new professional drawing application that offers a wide range of sketching tools neatly organized in an intuitive user interface and is now specifically designed for iPhone and iPod touch devices.

“Mobile applications are becoming increasingly advanced and are slowly moving beyond simple entertainment,” explains Robert “Buzz” Kross, senior vice president of the Manufacturing Industry Group at Autodesk. “We are pleased to offer an application intended for industrial designers and the entire community of creative workers through the App Store. With SketchBook Mobile, Autodesk remains true to its long-standing tradition of bringing professional design technology to market at an affordable price.”

SketchBook Mobile uses the core drawing software of Autodesk SketchBook Pro, thus providing the same capabilities and features as this desktop application. The combination of high-quality digital pencils, pens, markers, and airbrushes with an artistically customized motion-sensitive user interface allows users to create anything from quick sketches to production-ready designs in print quality.

Key features of the SketchBook Mobile application include:
  • Layers - Drawings can contain up to six layers.
  • Brushes - The software comes with a set of 25 pre-configured brushes with widely customizable settings.
  • Color selection - Customizable samples and a color wheel with an RGB slider provide virtually unlimited color palettes.
“SketchBook Mobile is not just a drawing and painting application; it is a tool for professional illustrators and artists,” said graphic designer Susan Murtaugh. “Everything I need is here at an affordable price – advanced layers, image insertion, collections of customizable brushes, including pencils, lacquer, textures, and airbrushes. And most importantly, all these tools are pressure-sensitive, determining width and transparency, which elevates mobile drawing to a new level.”

Content created in SketchBook Mobile can be saved as an image and opened in SketchBook Pro. This means that artists, designers, and anyone who draws or creates drafts can sketch a drawing using SketchBook Mobile at any time and further develop their idea in SketchBook Pro.
