Autodesk, a global leader in design software, announced that it has provided software to the organization People in Need, a non-profit company, thereby supporting its activities around the world. Autodesk provided solutions including Autodesk Revit Architecture Suite 2010, a leading software for architects and designers, and AutoCAD Civil 3D, an effective BIM solution for engineering projects. Both solutions are based on the building information modeling (BIM) method, which enables the creation of high-quality and comprehensive designs while facilitating effective collaboration among various entities in all areas of construction projects. People in Need will utilize Autodesk products in the near future for its construction projects not only in the Czech Republic, but also in Angola, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan.

“As part of this collaboration with the organization People in Need, Autodesk enables the use of the most advanced software on the market for projects in crisis-stricken countries around the world,” says Luděk Hrdina, marketing manager for construction solutions at Autodesk. “In addition to increasing productivity, for example, by allowing parts of buildings to be easily replicated and speeding up the design process, one of the benefits of the Revit platform is the support for so-called sustainable design, which in this case allows for the design of buildings with the best parameters and thus lower operating costs through sun shading analysis and thermal analysis.”

“We greatly appreciate the significant assistance from Autodesk. Its software will significantly enable us to accelerate, streamline, and enhance our construction work in crisis areas in the world and in the Czech Republic,” says Tamara Nováková, operational representative of the humanitarian and development section at People in Need. “In the near future, we will primarily utilize Autodesk Revit Architecture for designing buildings in Angola, specifically for the design of schools and agricultural centers and schools in Ethiopia. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, we will build water reservoirs and gravity-fed pipelines to villages, public toilets, and toilets in schools and hospitals, and in Sri Lanka, we are constructing emergency housing, a kindergarten, and sanitation facilities. In Afghanistan, it concerns the construction of schools, clinics, and small hydropower plants.”
“By using this software, we expect significant time savings in construction from the initial design phase to complete technical documentation. As a result, we can hand over completed buildings, such as schools, clinics, etc., to those in need much earlier,” clarifies Nováková.

Autodesk Revit Architecture facilitates initial concepts and the creation of multiple design variants and allows them to be easily transitioned into a form of technical documentation that complies with standards and building rules while ensuring minimal energy costs for operation. A significant help, especially in projects where there is great time pressure or a severely limited number of designers, is the fact that any partial change in design is automatically reflected throughout the entire project. Autodesk Revit Architecture offers basic building information model (BIM) data to support long-term sustainable design, collision detection, structural planning, and production. The AutoCAD Civil 3D application, intended for engineering structures, utilizes building information modeling (BIM) and helps project teams evaluate potential scenarios in the initial design phase and quickly and professionally complete projects in transport, land development, and environmental sectors.

About People in Need
The non-profit organization People in Need was established as a humanitarian organization aimed at helping in crisis areas and supporting the observance of human rights around the world. People in Need carries out humanitarian assistance, long-term development projects, and supports efforts for democratization and the respect of human rights. In its years of existence, it has sent hundreds of shipments of direct humanitarian aid and implemented development projects in various countries in Europe, Asia, and Africa, supporting specific projects for dissidents, independent journalists, human rights defenders, and representatives of democratic opposition in more than 46 countries around the world.
