The lecture is part of the lecture series Ecology vs. Architecture organized by the Faculty of Architecture CTU.
Thomas Herzog (69), who was appointed the youngest professor in Germany at the age of 32, has been a systematic pioneer for almost forty years in combining "German" rational and ecological approaches to construction. He is as successful an architect as he is a brilliant scientist. His main areas of interest include the use of modern high-tech materials and optimal energy management. In 1971, he founded his own architectural office, which focuses on the efficient use of solar energy. Within this office, he collaborates with many research institutions such as Fraunhofer, the Technical University of Munich, and the Bavarian Center for Applied Research. The result of this collaboration is an abundance of pilot projects and prototypes of construction technologies and components.
