On Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at 6:30 PM in the Lecture Department of the Moravian Gallery at Husova Street 18 in Brno, there will be a lecture by Janica Šipulová, who will present her diploma project from the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts.
..does experimental urbanism or alternative urbanism ring a bell? Or do you know someone who is engaged in alternative thinking about cities in the Czech basin?
The evening will include a presentation in the form of video mapping of the project BRNO OPEN CLOSE GROUND / WHAT WILL BRNO LOSE? The project "Brno - Open Close Ground" is a manual of imagination that opens up space to reveal potentials and interrelationships in the area from the Brno rivers and their embankments to the city center. The project can be viewed as a strategy for the urban transformation of this area, much of which lies in a post-industrial lowland. The complicated territory is characterized by blind corners, brownfields, and impenetrable sites; the area is full of barriers, fences, and dilapidated buildings. The current image of this territory is Close Ground (complicated territory) Close (closed, impenetrable) Close (near the center). A new perspective on this territory Open Close Ground (Revealing the Opening of the Territory) is presented on a map measuring 11m x 6m, which draws from traditional exploratory maps known as narrative maps.
