New Syrovice (Třebíč region) - The castle in New Syrovice in the Třebíč region will have a new roof, as the current one leaks. Its replacement is part of the overall restoration of this monument-protected building, which is being carried out by the Vysočina Region. The castle is used by its social care institution with 70 clients, who have been temporarily relocated to Želetava due to the repairs. The total reconstruction of the castle, costing 40 million crowns, will be completed in 2018. This information was provided in a press release by Deputy Governor Josef Pavlík (ANO).
The castle, built in the neoclassical style, served as barracks after 1945. It has been used for social services since the 1960s. Work on replacing the castle roof covered with beaver tail tiles will begin this year. According to the requirements of the conservationists, the roof will have the same covering after the repairs. The damaged trusses will also be replaced.
The castle will receive a new facade, windows, and floors; the arches of the corridors will be statically secured. Workers will also swap both aging elevators in the building. Last year, new electrical wiring was installed there, and the outdoor sewage system was replaced. The courtyard of the castle, which was previously managed with various materials, has been paved with granite tiles.
Social institutions in the region are located in several historical buildings. After the transformation of two social institutions, whose residents moved into family houses, the castles in Jinošov in Třebíč and Těchobuz in Pelhřimov were freed up in recent years.
The castle in Jinošov, where part of the ceiling collapsed in 2008, has already been sold by the region. The site in Těchobuz is temporarily serving as storage, and by spring, a decision should be made on the future handling of the site by the region. According to the region's spokesperson Jitka Svatošová, there are currently no plans to abandon any other building.
