Veltrusy (Mělnicko) - In the area of the former monastery in Veltrusy, Mělnicko, a hospice with beds for about 120 patients is expected to be established in the future, at a cost of approximately 350 million crowns. The non-profit organization Hospice of Prince Václav, which will operate the new hospice, ceremonially laid the foundation stone for the construction today. Actual construction is set to begin in no less than two years, as the organization must secure financial resources from various funds. Lubomír Kníže, the director of the organization, and Milan Němec (ČSSD), deputy of the Central Bohemia governor, told ČTK today. According to current expectations, the construction should be completed in about ten years.
"The theoretical chance to obtain the first funds is in about two years because we need to have a project prepared before that. Some money must also be raised for project preparation; it's not in the tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands, it's already in the millions,” Kníže told ČTK.
The facility will be created on the site of the former monastery, but about 90 percent of the total costs will be invested in completely new construction. "The renovation should not be as demanding as the construction of new buildings,” Kníže added. The Hospice of Prince Václav currently only provides home hospice care. The area was recently acquired from the Czech province of the Congregation of the Daughters of Divine Love, which belongs to the Roman Catholic Church.
In the Central Bohemia region, there is one bedded hospice in Čerčany in the Benešov region. It has a capacity of about 30 beds.
