Brno - A new wellness center will be built by Syner company at the municipal swimming stadium in Lužánky, Brno, for 32 million crowns. The Brno City Council approved the selection of the construction company, as well as the increase in costs for the wellness facility from the originally planned 19 million to the final price of 32 million crowns.
"The price increase was influenced by the inclusion of the terrace reconstruction on Sportovní street into this contract. Currently, the terrace is very unappealing and it is the visual side of the entire stadium," stated Deputy Mayor Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL).
The wellness center will be located under the stand of the swimming stadium. Visitors will have access to two steam cabins, a bio sauna, a Finnish sauna, experience showers, a cooling bucket, and a whirlpool. A cooling pool with a relaxation area will be placed on the western terrace.
Syner is set to start work in November, and the wellness should be completed by approximately May next year.
Next year, the city plans to build a pool half the length of the fifty-meter pool for about 60 million crowns, to allow for competitions to be held there. There are also plans for a water park costing half a billion, which is intended to be connected to the fifty-meter pool. The only water park in Brno is in Kohoutovice, but it does not meet the demand for capacity.
In Lužánky, there should be space for many sports in the future. The city plans to build a football stadium in the place of the old one, which has been abandoned and deteriorating since the beginning of the millennium. With the help of a private investor, a hockey hall is also expected to be built for the Kometa Brno club.
