Prague - The construction of a multifunctional building in Pitkovice, Prague, could be completed by the end of this year. The investor of the construction is the municipal district of Prague 22. The building, which is currently under construction by the company Reader & Falge for approximately 105 million crowns, will include, among other things, a new kindergarten and a doctor’s office. This information comes from records in the contract register and from a resolution of the Prague 22 municipal council.

The new building will house a kindergarten for 112 children, a gymnasium, and a dining hall. The multifunctional building is also expected to include a multipurpose hall with facilities for cultural, sports, and community activities, as well as spaces for doctors and a grocery store.

The construction company has been building the multifunctional house since the fall of 2021 based on an architectural design from 2020 by the Atelier Hromek studio. Originally, it was planned that construction would start at the beginning of last year and be completed by May of this year at the latest. According to representatives of the municipal district, the delay in deadlines was caused by the fact that the valid building permit for the new construction was issued only in October 2021.

The construction price also increased in relation to the contract with the contractor, which was signed in February 2021. According to documents published in the contract register, the reason is primarily the rise in prices of construction materials. The price for construction work has thus risen from the original approximately 91.4 million crowns to the current about 105 million crowns including VAT.

Investment in school construction is crucial for Prague 22 this year, said mayor Tomáš Kaněra (ANO) earlier. The city hall also plans to increase the capacity of the U Obory elementary school on Vachkova Street this year, thanks to an extension. Four new classes are expected to be created for students.

According to the budget approved by representatives in January, Prague 22 is expected to operate this year with revenues of 195.1 million crowns and expenses of 234.58 million crowns. The city hall plans to invest about 100 million crowns this year.

Prague 22, where over 11,000 inhabitants live, is located in the southeast of the capital. The municipality includes Uhříněves, Hájek, and Pitkovice and falls under the municipal district of Prague 10.
