Jihlava - The Vysočina Region is looking for the most interesting cultural achievement of last year and the most significant event related to the preservation of cultural heritage for the third time. Citizens, organizations, and associations can nominate three events in each category. They must send their proposals by February 5th to the regional office.

The winners of the poll will receive the Vysočina Region Award for the Best Cultural Achievement of 2006 - the Golden Rowan and a monetary reward. The winners will be announced at a festive evening in May at the Horácké Theatre in Jihlava, said the region's spokesperson Jitka Svatošová today to ČTK.
People can nominate, for example, interesting concerts, publishing projects, the development of museum exhibits, modernization of libraries or cultural houses. They can also suggest qualifying showcases held in Vysočina. "In the area of heritage care, a review of completed events available on the region's website can serve as a guide during the selection," added Svatošová.
The historically first Golden Rowan was awarded in 2005 to the original Dance Hall Třešť. The category of cultural heritage was dominated by the reconstructed gallery Hasičský dům in Telč. Last year, the Golden Rowan honored the gathering of blacksmiths Brtnické kovadliny and the restored portal of the granary in Lukách nad Jihlavou.
