The third issue of the revue Salve comes with a multifaceted theme of light, which is presented in three conceptual blocks. Light in theology and liturgy is covered by Yves-Marie Blanchard in a study on light in the Bible, Michel Evdokimov in an essay on light in the Orthodox Church, and Jan Kotas with a paper on light in liturgy. The theme of light in spiritual life is addressed in depth by his Order's brother Pavel Vojtěch Kohut OCD in a study of the mysticism of St. John of the Cross. The final block is dedicated to light in art. The theological and philosophical foundations are laid out by Bertram Stubenrauch in a study on sacred space as an image of faith. František Burda outlines the spiritual semantics of the function of light in abstract art, and Norbert Schmidt explores the theme of contemporary modern stained glass in old churches. He discusses the current works of well-known contemporary artists like Neo Rauch, Sigmar Polke, and Gerhard Richter, who have managed to refocus the interest of the broadest public on the ancient ecclesiastical role. The concluding text by Alois Kölbl presents the reconstructions of the sacred spaces of the abbey church in Pannonhalma, Hungary, and the parish church of St. Maurice in Augsburg, Germany, by architect John Pawson. It should be noted that these prominent buildings would not have been created without the direct example of the Trappist monastery in Czech Nové Dvory. The issue also includes a block of reviews and annotations. The rich photographic accompaniment includes impressive photographs of ancient temples by Martin Stecker.
